Abandoned Infants Assistance

This program:

  1. Prevent abandonment of infants and young children, particularly those who have been perinataly exposed to a dangerous drug and those with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) or who have been perinatally exposed to the virus
  2. Identify and address needs of those abandoned infants, especially those with AIDS
  3. Assist these children to reside with their biological families, if possible or in foster care
  4. Recruit train health and social services personnel foster care families and residential care providers to meet the needs of abandoned infants and children who are at risk abandonment
  5. Carry out residential care programs and foster families
  6. Provide technical assistance and training to providers to meet the needs of this population
